Why safety starts on the drill floor
Clear communication, critical controls and the confidence to stop unsafe work.

Offshore work combines heavy equipment, complex procedures and changing conditions. Safe execution begins with a shared understanding of the task, the hazards and the controls needed before work starts.
A useful pre-job discussion establishes who is responsible, what could change and when the team should stop and reassess. Written procedures are important, but they do not replace active communication at the worksite.
Stop-work authority needs to be supported by practical action: pause the activity, make the area safe and resolve the concern before restarting. Learning from near misses helps teams strengthen controls without waiting for an injury.
This is general industry guidance, not a statement of company safety performance.
