Rig moves: readiness before departure

Weather, route assessment and coordination behind a safe relocation.

A rig move begins well before departure. The planning team needs to understand the vessel or unit, the intended route, port requirements and the conditions expected during the transit.

Weather windows must be considered alongside towing arrangements, fuel, communications and emergency response. A departure checklist is only effective when its evidence has been reviewed and its actions closed.

Clear handovers between drilling, marine and logistics teams reduce misunderstandings. Changes to the route or forecast should trigger a fresh risk assessment rather than an assumption that the original plan still applies.

This is general marine planning guidance, not a report of a completed company project.
